A few years ago we gave your shoeboxes out in the village of Bozieni, Moldova and through this met Mihai who has a big heart for the people of that village and the village of Dubovca. He has been undertaking some childrens work in the local school but he wanted to do so much more. When we gave out the shoeboxes he also became more aware of the elderly people who were struggling in their houses all alone. Through generous supporters we were able to help purchase derelict premises in the village and Mihail and his team and turned it into a community centre. They now outreach into the local community, they have youth groups, a limited feeding programme, celebrations and even a small church has been started up that meets at the centre.

Latest Update – May 2025
The team from the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church, the ‘New Covenant’ Hincesti, sent a report of the work they have done over the past couple of months.
“We express our gratitude for the support of the “Link to Hope” Organization and for the fact that we can carry out useful projects for people who are in great need of support, help and encouragement. We are grateful for the fact that we have been able to be useful and helpful to a large number of people. During March and April around 26 people have benefited from our common help in terms of daily food, washing clothes and food packages. Here are a few of their stories.”

“In the quiet village of Dubovca, in a small house with blue shutters, Mrs. Cușcan Vera lives. She is 73 years old and has a heart full of memories. For more than ten years she has been living alone, since her husband Anatolie passed away due to complications with diabetes. Mrs. Vera fills her days with simple things: she takes care of the flowers in front of the house, braids grandchildren’s hair and reads the Bible. Every time we visit her, she is very happy with the visit and the help provided.”

“Surujiu Vera Dmitrievna also lives in the village of Dubovca and at 89 years old she is one of the oldest women of the village. All her life, Vera Dmitrievna worked hard in the fields. She is now bedridden and has lost her sight. Her son takes care of her. She is completely helpless and cannot do anything on her own. She needs to be fed, changed and washed. She lost a lot of weight and became very frail. Every time someone visits her, she asks the same question: “Why am I still alive?” Her son takes care of her with a lot of patience, which is worthy of respect. He cannot leave even for a few hours. The conditions in the house are modest. Her son does his best to keep it clean and heats the house when it’s cold. May God give him patience and Vera Dmitrievna the strength to live their remaining days in peace.”
