Running to rebuild and renovate

Running is not a normal hobby in Moldova.  So when Pastor Slavic decided to run 15km to raise funds to rebuild the childrens playground in Dancu, it was met with some very puzzled faces.  On Thursday 1st May he did just that and Lisa our General Manager decided to surprise him and went over to support him (but not run)  Word had got out, of what Slavic was going to do and so on the day 14 people (all young) decided to run with him.  It was just the most amazing occasion and people from the village met the runners at the end of the race which was of course in the old children’s playground.

Slavic and team (along with some help from Link to Hope) raised £6,500 and went off with shopping list to buy the play equipment and for materials to repair and upgrade equipment that was already in situ.  On the 1st June over 300 children and parents came and celebrated on Childrens Day the opening of the new playground.  Children who have nowhere to play and don’t have toys at home, were able to come and be children and simply play on all the wonderful new equipment that had been purchased.  The playground is open all day long so they can come at any time and be in a safe environment.  Thank you to everyone that donated.
