Bathroom DIY Project

Link to Hope has previously funded shower blocks that are built in the communities of very poor families in order for them to be able to wash themselves and their clothes and to help minimise illness and infections.  Around 200+ families benefit from a hot shower each week.

Now more groups of families are approaching Pastor Cornel and want help for them to build mini bathrooms in their communities.  Not the size of a shower block but somewhere several families can share consisting of toilet, basin and bath/shower.  We are therefore launching the Bathroom DIY Project.

In general there are 2 different categories of people who wish and want a shower and a place to wash.  They are prepared to do all the work themselves and Pastor Cornel goes and trains them in the best way to do it.

  1. If a community already has access to running water/sewage then we supply the materials.  The cost is between £1,500 – £1,800
  2. A community does not have access to running water/sewage. Therefore extra work has to take place in order to draw up architect plans and gain approval from the water company to connect to these utilities.  They then need to build a small room to install the boiler, shower and a sink and a toilet.  The cost is then between £2,500-£3,000.

We can’t imagine not being able to have a shower or bath and we are therefore launching a campaign to raise £4,000 in order to help out two villages who need these facilites.  If you are able to donate then we would be very grateful.
